The new era at Real Madrid continues as they aim to get their bid to regain the La Liga title off to a strong start at home to Osasuna.

Xabi Alonso started his reign at the Club World Cup, where Los Blancos were hammered by PSG at the semi-final stage, but he has now had time to get his feet under the table, and much will be expected from here.

Luka Modric departed along with Carlo Ancelotti, and Trent-Alexander Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras have all arrived, as well as Argentine sensation Franco Mastantuono.

Osasuna will be no pushover though, having taken a point off Real at home on their way to a ninth-placed finish last season, but nothing but a win will do for the 36-time champions.

The Sporting News takes you through the latest odds, tips and predictions for this one at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid vs. Osasuna predictions, betting tips and odds

With Ante Budimir, scorer of 21 league goals last season, up top, Osasuna should cause Real some problems, but it is hard to see anything but a relatively comfortable home win in Alonso's first La Liga game.

Real are huge 1/5 favourites to win this with Sky Bet, with Osasuna way back at 10/1. The draw is at 11/2.

The Sporting News' Score Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Osasuna
