Why backing Leicester could be acca banker vs. Sheff Wed this weekend — Prediction, odds, lineups, bet builder tips for Championship clash image

The first weekend of the Championship season pits two clubs in a state of flux against each other at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City are one of the pre-season title favourites in the second tier, as they aim for an immediate return to the Premier League, but there is uncertainty surrounding their likely challenge amid reports of a potential points deduction

But their situation pales in comparison to that of a Sheffield Wednesday side who have genuine concerns over the long-term future of their club, with major off-field and ownership issues as the Owls head into the new season in something of a crisis.

On the pitch, both sides will be desperate to start with a win, and The Sporting News has you covered with a full preview and the latest tips and odds for this one.

Leicester vs. Sheffield Wednesday Championship prediction

Both sides could be forgiven for being distracted coming into this one, but Leicester really should be coming out on top against a chaotic Wednesday backdrop.

With Owls boss Henrik Pedersen admitting that it will be difficult for his side to focus on the job in hand given the uncertainty at the club, the Foxes are rightly the heavy favourites with Sky Bet.

They are priced up at 1/7, with the draw at 13/2 and Wednesday all the way out at 15/2 for this weekend.

Leicester vs. Sheffield Wednesday team news

  • Leicester are embarking upon the post-Jamie Vardy era, and they only have one-out-and-out striker on their books, so the pressure will be on Patson Daka this season.

Leicester vs. Sheffield Wednesday Bet Builder tips

Our bet builder for this clash has Leicester to win with a -2 handicap, with Abdul Fatawu to have two or more shots on target in the match. At time of writing that comes in at just over 3/1 with Sky Bet.

You can check out the latest odds and bet direct with our selected partners using the bet builder tool below.

Leicester aren’t in the best shape themselves at the moment, but they are expected to win this one quite comfortably against a Wednesday side in utter disarray.

Abdul Fatawu has returned from his lengthy absence due to an ACL injury and the Ghanaian winger has shown real quality in pre-season, so backing him to start the campaign with a shot-happy afternoon seems to offer decent value.
