Under normal circumstances a 3-3 comeback against Philadelphia Union having trailed 3-1 with 86 minutes played would represent something to celebrate for Inter Miami, but their dramatic draw last time out on Sunday still left a bitter taste in Lionel Messi's mouth.

Inter Miami continue to drop points in the MLS 2025 Eastern Conference, but they will have the opportunity to end their losing streak this Wednesday (early Thursday am in the U.K.) at Chase Stadium against rock-bottom Montreal.

Coach Javier Mascherano's harsh words after taking a point from Subaru Park at the weekend needed little analysis: "We're in the s—t, and the only way to see the sun is to give it our all. The result is my responsibility," said the legendary Argentinian.

Although Inter remain in the top seven (they start this next matchday in sixth place in the standings), they are seven points off the top and have won just one of their last eight matches.

If the talk is about crisis in Miami, the situation in Montreal is even more worrying. With just one win in 15 matches played and tough losses such as  a 6-1 home defeat to Toronto, the team coached by Italian Marco Donadel, are mired at the bottom of the table. Barring a sporting miracle, they already know they have no chance of advancing to the next round.

According to Betfair, Inter Miami are the clear favourites for this match: a home win pays 2/5 and a Montreal win rises to 5/1. A draw, meanwhile, is 15/4.

The Sporting News presents predictions and tips to help you bet and make the match even more exciting.

Inter Miami vs. Montreal prediction, tips, bet builder and odds for MLS clash

Both teams to score — (13/20, betway)

Despite Inter Miami's poor form, the mere presence of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez means we expect them to score at least one goal against the second-highest conceding team in the Eastern Conference (25). They also scored three against the Philadelphia Union, who boast one of the best defences in MLS. However, they are also unlikely to keep a clean sheet, having conceded 13 times in their last four matches, a figure that reflects their serious defensive issues. Back the BTTS for some decent value.

Tadeo Allende to score anytime — (12/5, Betfair)

When Luis Saurez was missing through injury recently, Mascherano went all-in on the Argentine striker Tadeo Allende, and he repaid that confidence with goals to cement himself as a key part of Inter Miami's starting lineup. He has scored three times in his last three games, with a double against the San Jose Earthquakes and one against the Philadelphia Union, and is beginning to form a real partnership with Messi. Seven goals in 18 games this season suggest that the 26-year-old striker's 12/5 odds to net at any time offers attractive value.
