The 2025 French Open men's singles final will deliver tennis fans the most epic matchup possible. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz will face off in their first-ever grand slam championship match-up. The winner will receive €2.55 million in prize money. It should be quite the weekend. The men's final on Sunday comes one day after the women's singles final between No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 2 Coco Gauff. It's the first time since 1984 the top two in both the men's and women's world rankings met in the French Open finals.
Sinner's dominance in majors has been downright otherworldly, with his winning streak at an incredible 20 consecutive Grand Slam matches. Alcaraz, however, is the reigning champion at Roland-Garros.

Sinner has gone a sparkling 18-1 this year, but the Italian's lone defeat came at the hands of Alcaraz. The Spaniard is 8-4 head-to-head against Sinner.
If Sinner lifts the trophy, he will be halfway toward the calendar-year Grand Slam. If Alcaraz emerges victorious, he’ll have won his fifth major title at age 22, the same age in which Rafael Nadal won his fifth (and at the same tournament!).

Jannik Sinner has looked like Superman this entire tournament. However, every superhero has his Kryptonite, and Sinner's is Carlos Alcaraz. And, given Alcaraz's success rate on clay over his sparkling young career, we expect the Spaniard to land another big blow on Sunday.
Sinner has yet to drop a set this entire week, and he has won 20 consecutive grand slam matches. It might seem crazy to bet against him during this unbelievable hot streak, until you realize he has dropped four straight head-to-head matches to Alcaraz.
The Spaniard also serves as the defending champion, and a win would make Alcaraz the third repeat champion at Roland-Garros in the past quarter-century. The other two: Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Sinner defeated Djoker in the semi-finals just days ago. Alcaraz paid tribute to his idol and fellow Spaniard, Nadal, by snapping a photo of Nadal's footprint plaque at Court Philippe-Chatrier before his semi-final win over Italy's Lorenzo Musetti.
Alcaraz will need to defeat one more Italian — perhaps the greatest Italian of all time — to join Rafa as a repeat champion on this court. His first-serve and second-serve velocity has looked so strong — and his defense and receiving game so elite — that he should be up for the challenge. Don't expect 10 aces from Sinner like he enjoyed in the semis against Djokovic.
There's a reason the odds are basically a coin-flip for this monumental showdown of a French Open final. These are the best two players in the world, and this could easily end up being one of the five or 10 best title matches in Roland Garros history. It almost feels destined to go five sets.
