The 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs have begun, and the FedEx St. Jude Championship marks the first tournament on the post-season schedule.

Rory McIlroy has decided to take the weekend off, so the question now becomes "Who can beat Scottie Scheffler?"

The bookmakers sure don't seem to have much confidence in the rest of the field. World No. 1 Scheffler has 3/1 outright odds going into the weekend, while Xander Schauffele has the next-shortest odds at 16/1.

Reigning St. Jude champ Hideki Matsuyama is 28/1. Cameron Young, who ran away with the Wyndham Championship last weekend, is 35/1.

The tournament takes place at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennesseee. A Ron Prichard design, the par-70 course measures 7,244 yards and features rolling zoysia fairways, 10 water hazards and 94 strategically-placed bunkers. Its Bermudagrass greens are newly renovated and run a little fast, but the top players in this field should be able to handle them with ease.

Our betting slips will feature players who can drive the ball hard and with accuracy, and players who maintain consistency on approach shots. We'll also target some of the hotter putters going into the weekend, as play-offs and clutch putts often go hand-in-hand.

Let's take a look at the complete odds for the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship, then reveal our best bets, top value wagers and favourite long-shot pick to emerge victorious in Memphis, courtesy of our betting expert Sloan Piva.

St. Jude Championship 2025 best bets to win

Odds correct at start of tournament, click links below to bet.

Scottie Scheffler (7/2, Betfair)

As soon as we saw 7/2, we jumped on Scheffler as the best bet. He's the best golfer in the world, and he has taken some time since winning the Open Championship to prepare himself for the play-offs. The reigning FedExCup champ is easily the man to beat.

As Tina Turner might have said about him, he's "simply the best." He ranks first in strokes gained total, off the tee and approach, not to mention he tops the TOUR in scoring average and par-4 scoring. He's second in the PGA in scrambling and sits in the top five in birdie average, putting average and green proximity.

Scheffler finished fourth here last year, which he would likely call a disappointment. He's going to eat this course up, and it wouldn't surprise anyone in the world if he put an early stamp on the FedEx Cup Playoffs and bagged his fifth win of 2025.

Viktor Hovland (30/1, AK Bets)

Hovland loves this course, evidenced by his three consecutive top-20 finishes at the St. Jude. He finished T2 at -15 last year, so 30/1 seems like very generous odds from our friends at AK Bets. He's about as good as they come on approach, and he can turn into a birdie machine real fast when he gets hot.

The Norwegian has been a bit up-and-down of late, but when he's locked on he remains one of the best in the world. He finished third at the U.S. Open in mid-June and 11th at the Scottish Open last month, and he won the Valspar earlier this year. Consider locking a small wager on Hovland, or at least taking him 14/5 to finish in the top 10.

St. Jude Championship 2025 top long-shot bet

J.J. Spaun (77/1, Betfair

Spaun seems to be flying under the radar a bit with these odds, so we will capitalise. He's ranked in the top 10 in strokes gained total and approach, and he's a solid par-4 scorer (TPC Southwind has 12 par-4 holes).

The Los Angeles native has also enjoyed a strong close to the 2025 season, winning the U.S. Open in June and finishing T14 at the Travelers and T23 at the Open. You can do far worse than a lotto-ticket wager on Spaun.

St. Jude Championship 2025 best bet to finish top 20

Matt Fitzpatrick (23/10, Betfair

Fitzpatrick has finished within the top eight in four consecutive starts on TOUR, catching fire at exactly the right time. He has also performed well historically at TPC Southwind, with a fifth-place finish and a T18 within his past three St. Jude starts.

Fitz has the all-around skill set to perform well at every turn this weekend. He's a solid driver, he's tremendous on approach, and he has really turned it up around the green. If his flat-stick shows up, he could mess around and take his first win of 2025. He's at least a fantastic bet to land in the top 10.
