BMW Championship 2025 predictions: Golf betting odds and expert tips, picks for FedExCup play-off tournament image

Entering the second week of the 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs, we now move to the prestigious BMW Championship. This year's edition of the famed postseason tournament will be held at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Rory McIlroy, the world No. 2 golfer, will be competing after taking last weekend off. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will also be in the field — and atop the odds board — but he will be without his caddie, Ted Scott (family matter).

The bookmakers have listed Scottie (5/2) and Rory (13/2) as the odds-on favourites. Xander Schauffele (18/1), Tommy Fleetwood (20/1), Ludvig Aberg (20/1) and Patrick Cantlay (20/1) are the only other golfers with odds of 20/1 or shorter.

Keegan Bradley, who won this event in 2024, is listed as long as 50/1 on some books. At first glance, that may seem nuts. But remember, the BMW moves venues from year to year. Last year, it was held at Castle Pines Golf Club.

This year's course draws some similarities to last year's, though. It features tight greens, elevation changes and man-made hazards throughout the course. It's also quite long for a par-70, measuring 7,600 yards (although it's not even close to the insane Castle Pines, which measures 8,130 yards).

Accuracy and precision — both off the tee and on approach — will be key traits of this weekend's winner. We will also target around-the-green acumen, as we want the players who get it close and then know how to finish holes.

Let's take a look at the complete odds for the 2025 BMW Championship, then reveal our best bets, top value wagers and favourite long-shot pick to emerge victorious in Greater Baltimore, courtesy of our betting expert Sloan Piva.

BMW Championship 2025 best bet to win

Odds correct at start of tournament, click links below to bet.

Rory McIlroy (9/1, AK Bets)

The 9/1 odds here are impossible to avoid, as McIlroy enters the weekend rested and focused to finish the playoffs in style. He also has an advantage over Scheffler, who will be without his beloved caddie Ted Scott due to a private family matter.

McIlroy has three wins in 2025 — the Masters, PLAYERS and Pebble Beach — and he has a whopping eight top-10 finishes. His elite driving power, scrambling and putting will all come into play at Caves Valley.

This course reminds us a lot of Augusta, where Rory finally won his first Masters to complete his career grand slam earlier this year. Look for a well-rested and focused McIlroy to emerge victorious once again this weekend.

BMW Championship 2025 top value bet

Patrick Cantlay (28/1, AK Bets)

Cantlay knows and likes this course, having won the BMW Championship at Caves Valley in 2021. He defeated Bryson DeChambeau in an epic six-hole playoff to win that year, which says something about the TOUR vet's nerves.

Beyond that, Cantlay seems to be in fine form entering this weekend's tournament. He finished among the top 10 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last weekend, and he now ranks second in par-4 scoring and eighth in strokes gained: approach.

BMW Championship 2025 top long-shot bet

Chris Gotterup (53/1, Betfair

Gotterup has looked phenomenal of late, posting a three-week run that saw him win the Scottish Open, finish solo third at the Open Championship and finish T10 at the 3M Open.

Gotterup's a beast off the tee, and he's among the best on TOUR when it comes to hitting greens in regulation. If he gets hot this weekend, he could easily bag his second win of 2025.

BMW Championship 2025 best bet to finish top 20

Harry Hall (7/5, Betfair

Hall quietly ranks eighth on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained, guided mostly by his TOUR-leading putter and elite scrambling ability. He's among the best in the business in par-4 scoring and birdie average, yet here he is yielding 82/1 odds to win the BMW.

The Brit has no wins in 2025, so it's reasonable that the bookmakers don't love his odds to win outright. However, we really don't understand Betfair offering him at 7/5 to finish in the top 20. He has 10 top-20 finishes this season, seven of which have come since May 11.
