Jerry Rice Jr. will take his best shot at making his legendary father's former NFL team. Rice Jr., a wide receiver from UNLV who went undrafted in 2014, is geting a tryout with the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

You might recall Jerry Rice Sr. spent 16 years of his illustrious, record-shattering career with the 49ers. In that time, he went to 12 Pro Bowls and helped the team win three Super Bowls. He's also the NFL's all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. The cleats to fill don't get any bigger than that.

As for Jerry Rice Jr., his only league plaudit to date has come from Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh, who thought the hopeful did a "nice job" trying out for them -- but not nice enough to get a rookie contract. But displaying the work ethic and drive made famous by his father, Jerry Jr. has moved on to trying to impress John's brother -- coach Jim -- in San Francisco.

It's still a long shot for the younger Rice to make an NFL team in 2014. But you have to admire his perseverance -- and what a proud son he really is.
