Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh has opened up about how he feels when Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill are at the crease — and it turns out, his nerves take over.

Both Indian batters hail from Punjab -- just like Yuvraj and the duo has looked up to the World Cup-winning all-rounder as a mentor.

Yuvraj has been deeply involved in their development. He has offered guidance through their early years and continues to do so even as they have broken into the Indian team.

How does Yuvraj Singh feel when Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill come to bat?
Speaking on the Curly Tales YouTube channel during an interview alongside his mother, Yuvraj said watching Abhishek and Shubman play fills him with both pride and tension.
“I watch Shubman and Abhishek batting. But, like mom, she used to get nervous when I was batting. I get nervous when Abhishek and Shubman are batting. I have spent a lot of time with them,” Yuvraj said.
Singh then added, "He (Abhishek Sharma) gives me nightmares when he gets out."

Given his mentorship role -- it's not just the performances but also the decisions they make on the field that affect him. Adding to the moment, Yuvraj’s mother, Shabnam Singh, said how seriously he takes his role as a mentor -- sometimes to the point of intimidating the players he mentors.
“A lot of people are scared of him like Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma. After their games are over, in the evening, he will call them and be like 'what kind of shot did you play?' They get petrified of him,” she said.

The BCCI recently handed Shubman Gill a Grade A central contract, while Abhishek Sharma has been placed in Grade C. The SRH opener's inclusion comes after a series of impressive performances in T20Is where he has already hit two centuries for India.
