It’s not just another IPL matchday in Ahmedabad. On Thursday, May 22, Gujarat Titans will walk out at the Narendra Modi Stadium wearing something a little different — a special lavender jersey.

No, this isn’t a change for style or sponsorship. There’s something deeper, more powerful, behind this shift from their usual match-day threads.

As the playoffs approach and GT sit pretty on top of the 2025 IPL table with 18 points and two league games to go, this fixture against Lucknow Super Giants will also carry a message far bigger than cricket.

GT’s lavender kit is more than just a jersey

Gujarat Titans will wear lavender to promote cancer awareness — a tradition they’ve now carried into its third straight season. The franchise is turning its home ground into a symbol of solidarity, with 30,000 lavender flags and 10,000 lavender jerseys set to be handed out to fans in the stands.

“This is the third consecutive year Gujarat Titans are batting for the cause of cancer awareness. We are glad to have our fans by our side who have shown consistent support in echoing the message for early diagnosis and pre-emptive care for cancer," said Colonel Arvinder Singh, COO of the franchise.

"On May 22, Ahmedabad will echo the message of solidarity from thousands of spectators in the fight against cancer, as we aim to bring about awareness that cancer, in any form, can be fought and defeated with proper care.”

Captain Shubman Gill echoed that message: “As athletes, we recognise the platform we have to influence change. Wearing these lavender jerseys is our way of showing solidarity with cancer warriors and honouring their resilience.”

From encouraging health screenings to spotlighting early detection, GT’s initiative makes Thursday more than a game — it’s a call to action wrapped in lavender.
