Washington Freedom (WF) and MI New York (MINY) faced off in the final of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season in Dallas on the night of July 13.
The Freedom advanced to the final after Qualifier 1 against Texas was abandoned due to rain, progressing because they finished top of the league table with 16 points from 10 matches.
On the other hand, the 2023 champions, MINY had to take a longer route to the final after finishing 4th on the table with just 3 wins and 7 losses.

Who won the Major League Cricket 2025 season?
MINY won the match by five runs. After losing the toss, they were put in to bat first, and the experienced Quinton de Kock led their batting from the front to score 77(46).
Monank Patel got 28(22) while middle-order batter Kunwarjeet Singh scored a crucial 22*(13) alongside 21(17) from captain Nicholas Pooran, to guide them to 180/7 after 20 overs.
Freedom's Lockie Ferguson bowled an economical spell of 3/21 from 4 overs while four other bowlers scalped a wicket each.

In the response, Rachin Ravindra gave WF a great 70(41) start, but they kept losing wickets at a regular interval, which led to a stop-start run chase.
Jack Edwards' 33(22) and Glenn Phillips' 48(34) contributions in the lower order went in vain as they fell short and lost the match by 5 runs.
Trent Boult and Rushil Kenjige both got 2/32 in their 4 overs to help MINY to their second title.
MINY's opening pair of Patel and de Kock ended as the highest and 3rd highest run-getters of the tournament, with 478 and 373 runs respectively.
