What happened in the final between RCB and PBKS?
Batting first on Tuesday, Punjab put up a mammoth total of 210 on a batting-friendly Ahmedabad pitch. Handy knocks from Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera ensured Punjab finished their innings on a high.
Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal picked up two wickets each, while Krunal Pandya chipped in with the all-important wicket of Shashank Singh.
While chasing, Virat Kohli and Phil Salt started strongly but were quickly bundled over by economical spells from Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson.
Yuzvendra Chahal weaved his magic again, as he dismantled the RCB middle order with his variations. Tim David and Jitesh Sharma tried their best but fell short by just 10 runs. Their wait for the elusive trophy continues.
Punjab were playing their first final since 2014, and the fans weren't disappointed after an outstanding season under the new leadership of Shreyas Iyer. Finally, Punjab broke their curse and got their hands on the most coveted trophy in franchise cricket.
After 18 seasons of waiting, heartbreaks, memes, and missed chances, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have finally done it. RCB are IPL champions. In a gripping 2025 final, they held off Punjab Kings by six runs to lift their maiden trophy, a moment fans had been chasing for nearly two decades.
RCB posted 190/9 in 20 overs, with Virat Kohli leading the way with a composed 43. PBKS gave them a scare in the chase but finished at 184/7, falling just short at the death. And just like that, the curse was broken.
