However, after finishing first in the league phase, the Kings had to take the longer route to the final after getting completely outplayed in the first qualifier by RCB.
PBKS had to chase a record IPL playoff total to reach the final and decided to back their strength to chase after winning the toss against RCB and ended up restricting them to 190 in the big game.
In the final, RCB finally ended their trophy jinx as they beat PBKS by 6 runs to lift their maiden IPL title.

Which venue will host the Final of IPL 2026?
As per the regular schedule, the 2024 champions, Kolkata Knight Riders' home ground, the Eden Gardens, was given the hosting rights of the 2025 finals as well as the season opener, before the halt in the middle of the season changed the schedule.
Despite it not being a written norm that the home ground of the defending champions will host the finals — as per the trend, it is seen a lot of times that such has been the case.
As of now, there is no official announcement for the 2026 final, but the defending champions RCB's home, M Chinnaswamy Stadium, would be a likely venue to host the final again.
