The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has come down to its last match of the season, as the Punjab Kings (PBKS) take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Punjab last featured in the finals of the IPL in 2014, where they suffered a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 3 wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The playing XI that featured in 2014 had a wide range of stars namely Virender Sehwag, Glenn Maxwell, and David Miller, some of whom could be still seen featuring in the international circuit. Axar Patel and Wriddhiman Saha seem to be the only two Indian players still playing at this juncture from the past squad.

PBKS' final playing XI in IPL 2014: Where are they now?

Virender Sehwag: Retired

One of India's most celebrated openers, Virender Sehwag, retired from all forms of cricket in 2015. He called it a day in the IPL format in the same year. He could be seen featuring in the leagues designed for the legends of the game.

Manan Vohra: Active

Manan Vohra hasn't officially announced his retiremenr yet; however, he hasn't been picked in the IPL since 2024. Vohra still plays in the domestic circuit for the Chandigarh cricket team.

George Bailey (c): Retired

The former Australian skipper was the only captain in Punjab's history to have led them to an IPL final. Bailey retired from all forms of competitive cricket in 2020. He then went on to become a selector for the Australian national team in the same year. Recently, he was appointed as the Chair of Selectors of the Australian cricket team.

Wriddhiman Saha (wk): Retired

The Indian wicket-keeper batsman announced his retirement from the international circuit in February this year after playing his final Ranji Trophy match for Bengal against Punjab.

Glenn Maxwell: Partially active

Maxwell recently revealed his decision to retire from the ODI format. However, the Aussie all-rounder will continue to play the T20 format. Maxwell was last seen featuring for the Punjab Kings in this edition of the IPL before he was ruled out due to a finger injury for the remainder of the season.

David Miller: Active

The explosive batter from South Africa, David Miller, continues to feature for the Proteas in all forms of cricket. He was last seen featuring for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025.

Axar Patel: Active

Axar Patel has grown to be an important part of the Indian national team setup, as the all-rounder played a crucial role in India's recent T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy triumph. Patel is currently the captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise in the IPL.

Mitchell Johsnson: Retired

The fiery Australian pacer retired from all forms of cricket in 2015 but continued to play in certain domestic leagues around the world before calling it a day in 2018.

Lakshmipathy Balaji: Retired

The veteran Indian fast bowler retired from all forms of competitive cricket in 2016 but continued to serve as the bowling coach for the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2018 to 2022. He could now be seen featuring in some of the Legends cricket leagues.

Karanveer Singh: Retired

Karanveer Singh hasn't officially retired from the game yet, as he still continues to feature for the Himachal Pradesh cricket team in the domestic circuit.

Parvinder Awana: Retired

Parwinder Awana announced his decision to retire from all forms of cricket in 2018. He has featured for the India Legends in some of the leagues designed for the former players all around the world.
