The change marks yet another logistical wrinkle in a season already juggling external disruptions and tight turnarounds.

It’s not the first time this match has been tossed around the map. Mumbai was the initial backup venue, but that option sparked a different controversy; one that social media wasn’t quiet about. Now, with security concerns mounting in Himachal Pradesh, there’s been a fresh update.

So, what pushed the BCCI to pull the plug on Dharamsala this late?

Why the PBKS vs MI fixture is moving out of Dharamsala

According to the Times of India, the May 11 clash is likely to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The last-minute relocation stems from the closure of Dharamsala airport due to Operation Sindoor, a military action tied to heightened security near the border.

Given the proximity of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium to the region, the change was inevitable.

Initially, Mumbai was floated as the replacement venue. But that would have handed the Mumbai Indians an eighth home game, a move that didn’t sit well with fans online. Though no official confirmation has come in, Ahmedabad now appears to be the frontrunner.

Meanwhile, the PBKS vs DC game on May 8 will proceed as scheduled in Dharamsala, as Delhi Capitals arrived before the airport shutdown. However, they’ll likely travel to Delhi by road for their May 11 home game against Gujarat Titans.
