Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant has been under heavy scrutiny for his below-par performances throughout the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
Expectations were high for the southpaw after being acquired for a whopping INR 27 crores in the mega auction last year in Jeddah. However, there have been speculations regarding the removal of the wicket-keeper batsman from captaincy in recent times.

Pant has managed to score just 135 runs in 12 matches, at a poor average of 12.27. His highest score of 63 came against the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match 30.
The southpaw has been miserable with both the bat and in some of his on-field decisions this season, as Lucknow bowed out of the playoff race after a disheartening loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Amid speculations regarding his future captaincy at LSG, the wicket-keeper confronted a journalist on this matter.

IPL 2025: What did Rishabh Pant say about LSG captaincy future?
Pant decided to take matters into his own hands after rumours regarding his removal as captain of LSG was shared by a journalist on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
An X user posted that Pant might be getting the axe ahead of the next IPL season in 2026, as the LSG owners feel that the southpaw's price tag is unjustified.

Pant decided to reply to the user and asked to use some sensibility and credibility before peddling fake agendas.
"I understand fake News gives more traction To content but let’s not built everything around it . Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with agenda. Thanks, have a good day . Let’s be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media", Pant wrote via his X handle.
