For the first time since 2010, we will have a final between the teams from regions that have not won a single Indian Premier League trophy as the Punjab Kings face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
PBKS will play their second final, while RCB will get their fourth attempt to claim the long-eluded trophy during the 2025 final on June 3 in Ahmedabad after failing thrice previously.

In the current season, RCB have beaten PBKS twice already in three meetings, including the first Qualifier and the Shreyas Iyer-led side will be out for payback.
However, after a washout scare in Ahmedabad during Qualifier 2, a big question remains ahead of the final - will there be a reserve day for the final in case of a washout? In this article, TSN explores what happens if it rains during the final.

Is there a reserve day for the IPL 2025 final?
The playoff matches at Mullanpur did not have any rain interruptions but the second qualifier in Ahmedabad saw the PBKS vs MI match being delayed by at least two hours before the eventual start of the match.
The Qualifier 1, the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 matches did not have a reserve day. In case of a washout, the teams finishing higher up the table would have gone through had the match(es) ended in a washout.
However, like previous seasons, the final will have an additional reserve day on June 4 if play does not happen on the scheduled date of June 3.

What happens if the IPL final is washed out due to rain?
If the RCB vs PBKS final night gets washed out due to rain, the match will be played on Wednesday, June 4, like it happened during the 2023 season.
The 2023 final was decided on the reserve day at the same venue where the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had dramatically gone past the Gujarat Titans (GT).
