The final of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL)is just around the corner, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
RCB will be playing another final after 2016, where they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 8 runs. They will look to shrug off their past failures and register their name in the history books of the cash-rich league.

From the team that played in the final nine years back, only Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Chris Jordan, and Sachin Baby are still active in the international cricket circuit. Kohli is the sole player in the team who will feature again on Tuesday.

Chris Gayle: Retired
The big man from the West Indies, Chris Gayle, retired from the international scene in 2021 after he played his final T20I match against Australia. Initially, he had announced his retirement post the 2019 ODI World Cup but made a U-turn and played the ODI series against India in August.
Virat Kohli (c): Partially Active
The Indian stalwart, Virat Kohli, who was the highest run-getter in the 2016 edition of the IPL, is currently active only in the ODI format. He has retired from both the T20 and Test formats; however, he continues to feature for the Bengaluru-based franchise. He is the only player to feature for RCB from the final in 2016.
AB de Villiers: Retired
The South African stands retired from all forms of competitive cricket. He occasionally appears during the IPL as a commentator/pundit and is quite active on his YouTube channel.
KL Rahul (wk): Active
The batter from Karnataka plays for India in all three formats now and has become an important cog in the national setup. In the IPL, Rahul plies his trade with the Delhi Capitals (DC) as of now.
Shane Watson: Retired
The Australian all-rounder has retired from all forms of competitive cricket and is now seen playing in some of the leagues that are designed for former players around the globe.
Sachin Baby: Active
Sachin Baby is still up and running, as he was a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) camp in the IPL 2025 season. However, he didn't get any chances to make an impact in the tournament.

Stuart Binny: Retired
The Indian all-rounder has retired from all forms of cricket and could be seen featuring in the tournaments for the legends of the game.
Chris Jordan: Active
The English all-rounder is well and truly active in the international cricket circuit as he continues to play a part in the English national team setup.
Iqbal Abdullah: Retired
Iqbal Abdullah announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2023 and is now seen featuring in some of the leagues designed for the legends of the game.
Yuzvendra Chahal: Active
Chahal has gone on to become one of India's most sought-after spinners, as he now plays for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise in the IPL. He will be seen featuring against his former team on Tuesday evening.
Sreenath Aravind: Retired
Sreenath Aravind stands retired from all forms of cricket as of now. He announced his retirement in 2018 after helping Karntaka lift the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
