Mitchell Marsh delivered another solid knock for LSG on Monday night at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Opening the innings in a must-win clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Marsh batted with authority right from the start.

He scored 65 runs off just 39 balls, cracking 4 fours and 4 sixes in a powerful show of intent. But one of those sixes did more than just earn runs.

In the final over of the powerplay, Marsh hammered Eshan Malinga through the leg side. The ball flew straight into the Tata Curvv car parked at the venue as a prize on display. The hit left a visible dent on the car and drew immediate attention.

Why did Tata donate ₹5 lakh after Mitchell Marsh's six?

According to the initiative by Tata Motors, the group has pledged to donate 5 Lakh INR in cricket kits for grassroots development each time the ball hits the sponsor's car in the stadium.

This is similar to their 2023 initiative, where they had donated 10 Lakh INR to a coffee plantation in Karnataka.

So when Marsh’s six made contact with the vehicle, Tata Motors fulfilled the promise and made another contribution.

Who else hit the sponsor car this season?

Mitchell Marsh isn't the first player to do this in IPL 2025. Riyan Parag from Rajasthan Royals also launched a six into the same Curvv display earlier this season.

That shot came during his unbeaten knock of 81* against KKR, where he struck Moeen Ali for a massive blow over long-on in the 13th over. Just like Marsh, Parag’s six triggered the same donation from Tata.

What does this mean for Mitchell Marsh and LSG?

Marsh’s form has been a major plus for Lucknow in this season. Despite LSG facing an uphill battle to make the playoffs, the Australian all-rounder has emerged as their top run-scorer so far with 443 runs in 11 innings, striking at over 157.
