IPL 2025 is almost at its end, and things are getting tense for Lucknow Super Giants. Their next game is against Sunrisers Hyderabad and if LSG loses, they will be out of the playoff race.
The match is set to be played at Lucknow’s home ground and the pressure on the hosts couldn’t be higher. Meanwhile, SRH are already out of contention and with nothing left to lose, they could spoil Lucknow’s already shaky journey.
Where do LSG stand in the IPL 2025 points table?
LSG looked sharp at the start of the but things started to fall apart halfway through. They’ve only managed one win in their last five outings. Currently, they sit in seventh place with 10 points after 11 matches and a poor net run rate of -0.469.

Even if they manage to win all remaining games, they’ll still need other results to go in their favour, especially due to their net run rate. Every match is now do-or-die for them.
What if LSG beat SRH at Lucknow?
If Lucknow pulls off a win, they’ll move up to 12 points with two games still to go. It would keep their playoff hopes alive, but only barely.
The next steps won’t be easy as they’ll have to beat strong sides like Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru to hit 16 points.
And that still won't guarantee them a top-four spot. With such a low net run rate, LSG might need to win big just to stay in contention.
IPL 2025: What happens if LSG loses against SRH?
It would be game over for LSG. A defeat here means they stay stuck at 10 points and can no longer catch the teams above them, even with wins in the last two games.
It would make them the latest side to be officially eliminated from IPL 2025, joining teams like Kolkata, Rajasthan, and Chennai on the sidelines. The knockout blow could very well come from a team that is already out- Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Can SRH cause an upset against SRH?
Sunrisers may be down but they’re not out when it comes to pride. They’ve had a rough season, sitting on 7 points after 11 games with a net run rate of -1.192, which took them out of playoff contention early.
But that also gives them freedom as they can play with nothing to lose. With aggressive hitters like Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma, they are still capable of explosive performances. They might just decide to go out swinging and spoil LSG’s season in the process.
