Kolkata Knight Riders’ playoff hopes currently dwindle after back-to-back defeats against Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans but franchise CEO Venky Mysore isn’t giving up.
Speaking at an India Today event in Kolkata following the team’s defeat against GT -- Mysore reminded fans that KKR have been in similar situations in the past.

The 2025 season hasn’t gone according to plan for the reigning champions. With just six points from eight matches, they sit seventh on the points table, and their recent loss at Eden Gardens marked their fifth defeat of the campaign.

What did KKR CEO Venky Mysore say?
Speaking about the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team's chances of making it to the IPL 2025 play-offs, the team official said:
"KKR is a very resilient team. This is our 18th season. If you look at our record, we're among the top three. Whenever new people come into our setup, I tell them that in 2014, at the halfway point, we had only won two and lost five. But you know what happened in 2014—we went on to win nine matches in a row to set the IPL record. After that, we played the Champions League and won five more in a row. So we won 14 games in a row."

Mysore also referred to the 2021 season when KKR again had two wins from their first seven games but still managed to reach the final.
"In 2021, again, we had just two wins and five losses at the halfway stage—and still made it to the final. So anything can happen in this format; there are still plenty of games left."

He added:
