RCB, already through to the IPL 2025 final, weren’t even playing the match, but their presence was felt. The second Qualifier between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians was the focus, but it was RCB’s cheeky supporters who drew attention during the rain delay.

What happened to the PBKS vs MI Qualifier 2?
The match at the Narendra Modi Stadium was scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM IST, but rain had other plans. The toss happened on time, with Punjab Kings choosing to bowl first. But before the first ball could be bowled, the skies opened up.
It turned into a nervous wait as both teams eyed a spot in the final, with RCB already waiting on the other side.
This wasn't the first time rain caused trouble during the playoffs in Ahmedabad. And with the clock ticking toward the 9:30 PM cut-off for a full 20-over game, there was visible frustration among the fans and players.
Why is the weather such a big concern?
There is no reserve day for Qualifier 2. With just a one-day gap before the IPL final on June 3, the match has to be completed on June 1 itself.
And if the rain doesn't allow even a shortened game or Super Over, then the team ranked higher on the league table (first-placed PBKS) would qualify. Mumbai Indians, placed fourth, will therefore, be knocked out without facing a single delivery.

Why did RCB fans bring that banner?
RCB fans are known for their creative banners and loyal support. By saying “Waiting for you in final”, they reminded everyone that RCB had already sealed their place, after beating Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1. They now await the winner of this rain-hit encounter.
