It has left fans, players and franchises wondering what comes next -- and more importantly, when the league will resume. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the suspension on Friday.
He called it a precautionary step taken after consultations with stakeholders. He also said that the safety of everyone involved was the top priority.
However, the recent developments, i.e., the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, on Saturday meant the chances of an early resumption cannot be ruled out.

What led to the IPL 2025 suspension?
The suspension follows the abandonment of the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match in Dharamsala. With local airports closed due to the ongoing situation -- both teams had to travel by road and rail to Delhi.
Soon after, a call between senior BCCI officials -- including Saikia and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal -- sealed the decision to pause the league.

Is there a likely restart date of the IPL 2025?
No official restart date has been announced at the time of this writing. However, following the ceasefire between the two countries means there is a possibility that we see the competition as soon as this upcoming Thursday, i.e., May 15 as per the close sources.

"Yes the overseas players were panicking but it was more because of the airport shutdown and all. They patiently listened to the franchises and had full confidence but it was the fear of international airports getting shut which triggered a lot of panic," says a source according to TOI.
Indian Express on Sunday reported that the revised schedule of the tournament will be release by Sunday night and the IPL 2025 final could be postponed to May 30 from May 25 in Kolkata.

What to expect from the IPL 2025 restart?
After the PBKS vs DC game was halted mid-way through the first innings, there is a good chance that the match would restart from the first over and the rest of the fixtures would go seamlessly after the resumption.
The IPL governing council will soon release the official statement regarding the matter.
