On Tuesday, the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) drew its curtains as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) took on the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The campaign witnessed many high-scoring encounters, but bowlers once again proved their mettle in a what was a batsman-dominated tournament.

In the post-match presentation, one of the many individual awards for the season - the Purple Cap - was handed out to the standout bowler who finished with the most number of wickets in the season.

Who won IPL 2025 Purple Cap?
The leading wicket-taker for the 18th edition of the IPL was Gujarat Titans' (GT) Prasidh Krishna. The pacer picked up 25 wickets in 15 matches this season, displaying immense discipline in his line and length.
Krishna mainly bowled in the middle and death overs, where his variations proved to be handy as Gujarat finished their season with a playoff finish.
Prasidh Krishna walked away with the Purple Cap after a stellar season for Gujarat Titans, finishing as the league’s top wicket-taker with 25 scalps.

The Purple Cap has been a bowler’s badge of honour since 2008. Sohail Tanvir was the first one to grab it for the Rajasthan Royals with 22 wickets. Over 17 seasons, eight overseas bowlers have claimed it.
