The final match of IPL 2025 is not just about cricket anymore. This year, the closing ceremony will carry a much deeper emotion.
The BCCI has decided to dedicate the grand finale night to the brave soldiers of India who took part in Operation Sindoor- a military action launched after a deadly attack in Pahalgam.
As India faced growing cross-border tensions in May, including missile attacks from Pakistan, the Indian Armed Forces responded with strength and courage. Now, the cricket board wants to honour them in front of the entire nation.

What will happen during the IPL 2025 closing ceremony?
The final, set for June 3 at Ahmedabad’s massive Narendra Modi Stadium, will feature a powerful tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. Reports suggest that military bands will take the stage and the evening will also include a musical performance to celebrate the soldiers’ service.
According to a Sportstar report, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the ceremony will be fully dedicated to the defence forces.
"The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces, whose heroic efforts under Operation Sindoor continue to protect and inspire the nation. As a tribute, we have decided to dedicate the closing ceremony to the armed forces," said Devajit.
High-ranking officers including the Chief of Defence Staff and heads of the Army, Navy, and Air Force are expected to attend the event.

Why did BCCI decide to honour the soldiers?
Earlier this month, the IPL was paused for ten days after violence escalated across the border. A match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals had to be cancelled and the entire schedule was pushed back due to security concerns.
Operation Sindoor was launched, targeting terrorist camps across regions in Pakistan. The Army’s swift and fearless action earned praise from citizens, players and public figures alike.
Even stadiums have been doing their part. At Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, fans chanted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” during a home game.
