Delhi Capitals may have only given him one chance in IPL 2025 but Donovan Ferreira has sent a timely reminder of what he is capable of. The South African batter went ballistic for Texas Super Kings (TSK) in a rain-shortened Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 match.
He slammed 37 runs off just nine balls to help TSK thrash Washington Freedom (WAF) by 43 runs.

With heavy rain delays in Lauderhill, Florida, the match was reduced to five overs a side. Ferreira's innings proved to be the decisive difference between two sides jostling for a position near the top of the table

Ferreira wasted no time coming in to bat after Daryl Mitchell retired out in the third over. The South African dynamo started his innings with a six off Saurabh Netravalkar and followed it up with brutal hitting in the final over against Mitchell Owen.

The over went: six over mid-wicket, another over long-on, a third straight down the ground, two hard-run twos and a final six over midwicket.

Ferreira ended with 37 runs off nine balls at a staggering strike rate of 411.11. Shubham Ranjane also chipped in with 39* off 14 balls as Texas posted 87/2 in their 5 overs.
Washington Freedom crumble in chase
Chasing 88, Washington never got going. Nandre Burger struck twice in the first over, dismissing both openers, Owen and Rachin Ravindra for just 7 and 10 runs, respectively.

Glenn Maxwell fell for a golden duck soon after. Glenn Phillips offered some hope with an unbeaten 18 while the rest of the line-up collapsed under pressure, finishing at 44/4.
This was Washington's first defeat in the season after six straight wins. Texas Super Kings leapfrogged them to second place despite having the same 12 points, but TSK had a superior net run rate (+1.694 vs +0.284).
