Both teams need this win. SRH face a drastic challenge of a do-or-die match to stay in the race for the playoffs. DC, on the other hand, will hope to get back their winning momentum and make their push for the last-four stronger.

In this article, TSN tells you how this match could change the points table and what it means for both teams in the playoff fight.

IPL Qualification trends (Based on past seasons)

  • 16 points (8 wins): Almost guaranteed qualification.
  • 14 points (7 wins): Decent chance but depends on NRR and other results.
  • 12 points (6 wins): Rare. Qualification is only possible in exceptional circumstances.

What is the current standing of SRH and DC in IPL 2025?

SRH haven’t had a good time this season. They’ve picked up just 6 points from 10 matches, and their net run rate is making things worse for them.

DC has done better so far. They have won 6 out of their 10 matches and are sitting on 12 points. With only four teams going through to the playoffs, both sides know they have to keep winning from here.

What happens if SRH win this game?

If they manage to win, SRH will go up to 8 points from 11 matches. It won’t guarantee anything, but it will still keep them in the race, at least for now.

Historically, 16 points are often needed to secure a playoff spot, and SRH can not reach that mark.

SRH would need to win all their remaining games and improve their NRR significantly, and depend on the other results to go their way to have any chance of qualification.

If SRH beat DC, it’ll make things tough for Delhi. DC will stay at 12 points from 11 games, which means they’ll have to win at least 2 out of their last 3 matches to reach 16 and stay in the playoff race.

Such a result would help teams like KKR and LSG. KKR have 11 points and LSG are just behind with 10, so a DC loss gives them a good shot to go past them on the table.

What happens if DC wins against SRH?

If DC wins, they’ll move to 14 points from 11 matches. That puts them in a solid position to make the playoffs. It’ll also make the top-four fight even more exciting. RCB, MI, GT, PBKS, and DC would all be in the mix.

Since MI and GT also have 14 and PBKS just got to 15 after their win against LSG, the battle for the final four spots will get tighter. In the end, the net run rate might become the decider.

What happens if SRH vs DC ends in a tie or a No Result?

If the match is washed out due to rain, ends in a tie, or is abandoned for some reason, both DC and SRH will get a point each.

With just a single point, SRH will be knocked out of the tournament.

On the other hand, DC will move to 13 points from 11 matches. However, this will still keep them in fifth place and out of the top 4 ranking.

DC will continue to remain in the playoff race with one point from this match as they will still be able to reach a maximum of 19 points with wins in the remaining games.
