The England and Wales Cricket Board has offered to help India host the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2025 in the United Kingdom, according to Sky Sports.

This development comes in the wake of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspending the IPL 2025 season due to ongoing cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

The IPL has been suspended for a week due to tensions escalating between the two nations after India's military action in response to the terrorist attacks on April 22.
The development started after match 58 of IPL 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamshala was suspended on May 8. A day later, the BCCI decided to suspend the tournament for a week while the cross-border issues persist.

With 12 games still left to play - including four knockout matches, the BCCI is closely working with the government, teams and broadcasters and hopes to announce a new schedule soon.

How many times have the IPL been hosted outside India?
There have been quite a few occasions when the Indian Premier League was hosted outside of India. Let's take a look.
1. IPL 2009 - South Africa
The second edition of the Indian Premier League, which was won by the now-defunct Deccan Chargers, was hosted in South Africa due to security concerns surrounding general elections in India.

2. IPL 2014 - UAE (half)
The seventh edition of the Indian Premier League saw it being hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the first time in its history. The first 20 matches of the tournament were held in the UAE owing to general elections in India, once again, before returning to India on May 2.
3. IPL 2020 - UAE
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League was played in UAE once again, due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic which had impacted India massively at that time.
4. IPL 2021 - UAE
The 14th edition of the IPL returned to the UAE again, after the tournament was called off mid-way due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi were the three main venues where the remainder of the IPL was conducted.
