It is not uncommon for a player of MS Dhoni's stature and popularity to be associated with strange myths about their daily life and childhood.
Rumours are pretty common among sports icons, especially in India, and one that many have heard growing up is that the legendary Indian captain drank five litres of milk every day during his childhood.
It will not come as a surprise if a few among his millions of fans even tried to replicate the same!

But did Dhoni really drink 5 litres of milk a day while growing up? CSK legend recently busted the myth.
Does MS Dhoni drink 5 litres of milk in a day?
Dhoni was asked the question about the "most ridiculous rumour" he has heard about himself at a FedEx-sponsored CSK event.
The 43-year-old quickly answered: "[That] I drink 5 litres of milk a day." He further clarified, saying:
"I used to drink maybe a litre of milk every day, but you know, it was spread throughout the day. But four litres is a bit too much for anyone."
The host quizzed the CSK skipper about a less-popular but yet another hilarious rumour about him "making his lassi in a washing machine". This laughed and replied: "First of all, I don't even drink lassi."

How did MS Dhoni's teammates react to the 'five litres of milk' rumour about the Indian captain?
Robin Uthappa, who was Dhoni's teammate in the latter years of his IPL career and under whom he had won the 2007 T20 World Cup reacted to this rumour.
Speaking to Lallantop earlier this year, Uthappa debunked the long-travelled myth, saying:
"I have never seen him drinking milk. I have never seen him drinking milk ever."
He further revealed that Dhoni is a very private person, and while they speak regularly, the latter is often unreachable on his phone.
"Even after being such close friends, we need to inform his manager that we are coming. When we sit with him, it is like time hasn’t gone by. There can be 20 people sitting there, but your connection with him will be the same."
"The man I met in 2004 is still the same, when I sit and talk with him, the level of friendship is different”, he added.
