MS Dhoni has been an icon in Indian cricket for decades, due to his consistent hard work and perseverance that have helped him and his team reach new heights.

The younger generation looks up to figures like the veteran wicket-keeper, who has proved that one should just keep their head down and keep working at all times, despite the success, which makes him one of the legendary leaders in the world of cricket.

Dhoni has had a knack for picking up unproven youngsters and giving them a chance, which has paid massive dividends at times.

The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Virat Kohli were among the ones groomed by the legendary keeper, who have gone on to achieve great things in their careers and still hold the veteran wicket-keeper in high regard.

Meanwhile, another CSK wicket-keeper took the opportunity to express his gratitude towards the Indian veteran.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicket-keeper Urvil Patel was full of praise for the veteran player after CSK's IPL 2025 campaign came to an end.

Patel, who was picked up mid-season as a replacement for Vansh Bedi, paid a heartfelt tribute to Dhoni.

Patel took to his social media account to express his feelings towards Dhoni, under whose captaincy the 26-year-old made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

On his Instagram post, Patel wrote, "Grateful for the incredible opportunity to play under the legendary leadership of MS Dhoni. Every moment with Thala — on and off the field — has been a masterclass in calmness, leadership, and humility. I’ve already learned so much, and I’m excited to keep growing under his guidance."

He further stated that it felt like a dream come true as he shared the locker room with one of the greats in Indian cricket, and to top it off, his family was there to experience it.

"From standing beside him in the dressing room to sharing the field during a match, every second has felt like a dream come true. What made it even more special was having my family there to experience it — moments we’ll never forget."

The young wicket-keeper also mentioned that Dhoni signed a jersey for him, something that he will carry for his whole life.

"And now, a jersey signed with “Best Wishes Urvil” by Dhoni bhai himself — that one’s going in the frame forever. Truly an inspiring journey with a great leader and an even greater human being."

The 26-year-old, who plies his trade with Baroda in the Ranji Trophy, was called for trials in the middle of the season alongside another youngster, Ayush Mhatre, while the latter got the nod at first. A few days later, the CSK management was mightily impressed by the 26-year-old's batting prowess and handed him his first IPL contract.

Patel currently holds the record for the fastest ton in T20 cricket by an Indian, as he hit a 28-ball century against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024.
