What should have been a night of pure celebration for RCB turned tragic in the heart of the city. Following the team's historic IPL 2025 title win -- a stampede-like situation unfolded near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during a fan gathering on Wednesday.
This led to the death of 11 people and injuries to dozens more. As the nation reels from the shock, the BCCI has stepped in and vowed tighter regulations for future IPL celebrations.

What did the BCCI secretary say on Bengaluru tragedy?
Speaking to Cricbuzz, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia acknowledged the incident and made it clear that steps would be taken to avoid such chaos in the future.
"At some stage BCCI will have to do something. We cannot be a silent spectator," Saikia said.
He said that the responsibility of safeguarding cricket fans falls under the BCCI’s purview.
"It was a private affair of RCB but we at the BCCI are responsible for cricket in India and we will try to ensure such incidents do not recur in future," he added.
The incident has led to action by the Karnataka government. They have made multiple arrests till now. Questions are being asked about crowd control and the role of local authorities and event organisers in making sure of the public safety.

India coach Gautam Gambhir also voiced his concerns. He urged restraint in future victory parades.
He suggested celebrations be held indoors or within stadium premises to avoid endangering lives.
"Winning is important, celebrations are important, but more important than that is the life of any person," Gambhir said.

The BCCI is reportedly considering issuing formal guidelines to regulate future victory parades and celebrations across the IPL. The details remain unclear but the board look to create preventive systems to avoid repeats of such disasters.
