The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk received anonymous mails on Friday, May 9, which has raised alarms among the security apparatus in the country.

Both stadiums are the homes to the franchises Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), respectively, in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) received a mail in the early hours of Friday which threatened to blow up the Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Few hours later, Chepauk too reported security concerns.

Previously, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad were the ones to recieve bomb threats. Both the stadiums are the homes to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively.

Yesterday, the match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) had to be suspended due to air sirens heard all over the region due to the rising tensions across the LoC between India and Pakistan.

This series of events followed after India's 'Operation Sindoor', which was a retaliatory military action against terror targets in Pakistan, in response to the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.

Delhi and Chepauk report security concerns after Bomb threats

A top official from the DDCA confirmed that they received a bomb threat via email on Friday morning.

The email read that the Arun Jaitley Stadium would be blown up as they have a committed Pakistan sleeper cell active in India. It was also mentioned in the email that it would be the revenge of India's Operation Sindoor.

Speaking to the Times of India, the DDCA official said, "Yes, we received a threat email this morning and have already forwarded it to the Delhi Police. They already swung into action and did an inspection of the venue some time back."

The Arun Jaitley Stadium was reportedly set to host the match no. 62 of the ongoing IPL season between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans (GT). Chepauk too, was the 4th stadium to receive security threats after Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi. Check out the tweet below.
