Chelsea fans may have seen plenty of ups and downs this season, but one thing has stayed the same from August to May: Moises Caicedo in the starting XI.
The Ecuadorian midfielder has played every single Premier League game for the Blues this season — 38 out of 38. That puts him in elite company.
Only two other Chelsea players have done the same in recent memory. Cesar Azpilicueta in 2018-19, and before him, club legend Frank Lampard in 2004-05.
That’s the level Caicedo has now reached. And just like Lampard controlled the pitch with class and consistency, Caicedo has done it with energy, strength, and sheer will.
When Chelsea paid £115 million to bring him in from Brighton, many raised eyebrows. Now, they’re raising glasses.
Caicedo has become the glue of Enzo Maresca’s system — winning the ball, covering ground, and giving others the freedom to shine. Even when pushed to right-back, he looked just as solid.

Cole Palmer, speaking after a win over Liverpool, said: “From the start of the season until now, he’s been our best player. He’s a machine.”
Moises Caicedo set for new Chelsea contract
Caicedo’s tireless efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. He swept up all the men’s first-team awards at Chelsea’s end-of-season ceremony.
And now, the club wants to keep him happy for the long haul. Talks over a new deal have already been worked on "internally" (as per Fabrizio Romano), despite his current contract running until 2031.

From Stamford Bridge to the Champions League next season, Caicedo looks ready to carry Chelsea forward — one crunching tackle at a time.
