Enzo Maresca has made a decision on a Chelsea defender he is unwilling to sell unless there are suitable replacements brought in.
Maresca's defensive unit struggled throughout the season with injuries, but this defender played a big role in the latter half of the season. The Cheslea boss seems to be pleased with the defender, as rumors about a potential exit have emerged.
Who does Maresca want to stay at Chelsea?
Maresca has made Trevoh Chalobah high on his priority list to keep at the London club, according to Football Insider. There have been reports that Napoli are interested in the Englishman, but Maresca wants to keep Chalobah as part of his defense.
Chalobah was loaned out to Crystal Palace at the start of the 2024/25 season, but he was recalled in January to help bolster the backline. With Chelsea defenders plagued by injuries, Chalobah became a staple in the team.
While Chelsea struggled as a whole at times, Chalobah seems to have done enough to keep himself safe from a transfer. The English defender helped Maresca's side qualify for the Champions League, but Chelsea will need to firm up the backline even more ahead of the season.

Chalobah was given a place on the Club World Cup roster, where he'll likely see a good amount of playing time. He is an academy product from Chelsea, and his contract doesn't expire until 2028, so any profit for the defender would be a huge boost for Chelsea.
His contributions for Chelsea earned Chalobah a call-up to the England squad, and he earned his debut against Senegal on Tuesday.
