Why were fans asking about Rohit Sharma?
The ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has seen Team India led by young guns like Shubman Gill, and without regulars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Since both stars stepped away from Test and T20I formats, fans have been eager to know when they’ll next represent India and what they are up to in the meantime.
With India trailing 1-2 in the series, the buzz on social media intensified over whether Rohit might make a surprise visit or even just turn up to support the team.

When will Rohit Sharma return to international cricket?
Fans won’t have to wait too long to see Rohit back in action. His next assignment will be in October 2025, when India travel to Australia for a three-match ODI series.
With both Rohit and Kohli having announced retirements from Tests and T20Is, ODI cricket remains their only international format.

The much-awaited comeback for the legendary duo was originally expected in August 2025, with India scheduled to play a white-ball series in Bangladesh.
But that tour was postponed due to off-field concerns. A proposed six-match white-ball series with Sri Lanka was also scrapped, further pushing back Rohit’s return.
Rohit’s ODI record: Still one of India’s most reliable names
Despite not being part of the red-ball setup anymore, Rohit Sharma’s ODI numbers remain world-class. With 11,168 runs in 273 matches, including 32 centuries, he continues to be a vital part of India’s plans for the 50-over format.
His record score of 264, still the highest in ODI history, speaks volumes about his ability to dominate the format.
