The last time India won a Test series in England was in 2007 in the inaugural edition of the Pataudi Trophy. The three-match series ended 1-0 in India's favour.
What happened in the India vs England 2007 Pataudi Trophy?
With captain Rahul Dravid at the helm, India escaped the first Test at Lord's with a draw due to rain when they were 282/9 in a 380-run chase. RP Singh with 7 wickets, Dinesh Karthik, Wasim Jaffer and MS Dhoni were the stars with the bat for the visitors.
The draw was followed by a brilliant effort from Zaheer Khan, who scalped 9 wickets in the match alongside Anil Kumble's 6. Five fifties for the Indian top 6 that helped India take a big lead of 283 runs.

They went on to clinch the match by 7 wickets to lead the series before heading back to London for the final Test at The Oval.
Karthik and Dhoni got 90s, Sachin Tendulkar scored 82, and VVS Laxman and Dravid chipped in with fifties in the top 7 before Kumble got his maiden century to take India to 664 in the first innings.
Zaheer and Kumble once again led the bowling well to get a 219-run lead. India went on to post a target of 500 runs, and Kevin Pietersen's 2nd century of the series went to vain as the match was drawn.

It was a complete team effort for India — Karthik top-scored for them with 263 runs, and Zaheer took 18 wickets in the 1-0 series victory.
For England, Pietersen scored 345 runs and James Anderson took 14 wickets in 2 matches as the top performers.
