What is US Masters T10 League? Format, teams, major players participating

The US Masters T10 League is a newly-inaugurated franchise league in the United States of America.  Cricket is a fairly unpopular sport among the locals of the United States, with the viewership steadily rising over the past few years. The T10 League was formed to market the sport in a rather alienated region of the world. 

The inaugural season of the league is close to conclusion, as the group stages and the knockout rounds are all over, barring the final. The tournament-opener was played on 18th August, 2023. All the matches have been played at the Central Broward Park in Lauderhill, Florida.

What is the format of the US Masters T10 League?

The league is hosted in the T10 format. There is not much difference in the format when compared to the usual ICC-recognised formats. 11 players take on the field for the fielding team. Two batsmen can bat at once on the pitch. Each over constitutes of six legal deliveries. The only difference is that every innings has maximum of ten overs to be bowled.

The format included group stage games, along with the playoffs. Six teams competed for top four places in the group stage matches. The top four qualified for the knockout rounds. The playoffs were played in the IPL-style knockout rounds.

The top two teams at the end of the group stages faced each other in the Qualifier 1. The winner of the Qualifier 1 got the ticket to the final. The third and fourth-placed team after group stage games faced each other in the Eliminator. The loser of the Eliminator bowed out of the tournament, while the winner of the Eliminator faced the loser of the Qualifier 1, in Qualifier 2. 

The winner of the Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2, competed in the final test for the silverware.

When is the final of the US Masters T10 League?

The final of the US Masters T10 League will be played between New York Warriors and Texas Chargers on 27 August, 2023. The match will start at 9:15 p.m. IST and will be played in Lauderhill, Florida. 

The Warriors finished top of the table, and reached the final after beating California Knights in the Qualifier 1 clash. 

The Texas Chargers on the other hand, beat Morrisville Unity and California Knights in Eliminator and Qualifier 2 respectively.
