England has developed a reputation for chasing down mammoth targets in the 4th innings of a Test with their explosive approach in the Bazball era.

However, chasing down big targets in Test cricket remains a tough task, where the temperament of batters is often tested under pressure in the final innings.

The English side has also been on the wrong side of the result in these chases throughout their history in this format. After winning the Rajkot Test in 2024 by 434 runs, India has yet again asked the hosts to chase a monumental total of 608 runs in Birmingham in the 2nd Test of the series.
