India Champions finally began their World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 campaign against South Africa on July 22.

After being asked to bat first in Northampton, AB de Villiers came in to bat at 66/2 and scored a fantastic 63*(30) and helped the Proteas score 208/6 in 20 overs.

South Africa came into this match with a dramatic win over the West Indies Champions in a bowl-out and stood a chance to go top of the table with a win over India.

In his knock in the second match back after retirement, de Villiers scored 4 sixes and 3 fours to end up with a strike rate of 210.

De Villiers kept running out of partners with wickets in continuous intervals, but he stuck to an end and played a captain's knock.

While batting at 16*(11), he faced Yusuf Pathan on 13.2 and belted one of his four sixes out of the ground.

Pathan's short delivery was picked up by the South Africa Champions captain early as he went on the back-foot and pulled it over the mid-wicket boundary.
