India staged a memorable comeback in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as they picked up a dramatic win at the Oval in the fifth Test and drew the series 2-2.

It was a momentous turnaround for the Indian side, as at one point England were cruising towards victory in the fifth Test, with Harry Brook and Joe Root scoring a century each in the second innings.

However, it was Mohammed Siraj's heroics in the final day as he claimed a fifer and cleaned up the English tail to guide India to a memorable victory at the Oval.

Indian batters performed exceptionally well throughout the series, with Shubman Gill leading by example. He scored 754 runs in the tour and was the series' highest run-scorer.

KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja also scored more than 500 runs in the series, while Rishabh Pant hit 479 runs.

However, despite India's stellar performances, former batter Dilip Vengsarkar felt that India missed Virat Kohli's services on the tour.

Vengsarkar claimed that had he been chief selector, he would have urged Kohli to take back his retirement announcement and defer it at least until the end of the England series.

Speaking to TOI, Vengsarkar said: "If I were the India chief selector, I would have persuaded Virat to bid goodbye to Test cricket after playing the England series. We needed his class and experience in this series."
