Gill has not only justified the faith placed in him by the Indian team management, but he has also managed to steal the spotlight from none other than Virat Kohli, India's greatest cricketing icon.

What did Owais Shah say about Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill?

Former English all-rounder Owais Shah weighed in on Gill's recent success during a chat with TalkSport.

When asked about his assessment of Gill in the absence of Virat and Rohit, the Englishman answered:

"Gill hasn't just ticked the boxes; he has absolutely smashed them. To get so many runs and be the leading run scorer in the series so far, he has not looked in trouble whatsoever with pace and seam."

With 585 runs in just four innings, Shubman Gill's performances have been nothing short of exceptional. As India’s new No. 4, he has delivered with remarkable consistency and composure.

"He's an outstanding talent, and going into the series, a lot of people said the void left by Virat Kohli who was easily one of the best players to have ever played the game, will certainly be felt, but no one's talking about Virat Kohli unfortunately."

Owais Shah also lauded praises for the Indian batting lineup, he stated, "That batting lineup of India has really stood up tall, and you've got to take off your hat to them."l

What's next for Team India?

While Kohli's legacy in Indian cricket remains paramount, Gill's emergence as a strong No.4 batter is a glimpse into India's new cricketing era.

With Gill's current form, India would want him to continue batting in the same manner and probably have a 1000+ run series, leading India to a much-awaited series victory in England.

With the series levelled at 1-1, the 3rd Test at Lord's might well define the fate of how the results pan out. India would be high on confidence after their dominant victory at Edgbaston, while England would be looking for answers and would be keen to stage a comeback at the 'Home of Cricket'.
