India's new Test captain, Shubman Gill, spoke about the importance of taking 20 wickets in the Tests to win matches ahead of the England tour.

It was on full display during the first Test between India and England that the visitors were struggling to take wickets when they stood ahead in the match, especially in the first innings, where they let England come close to taking the lead.

Citing the lack of wicket-taking ability and control, England's second-highest wicket-taker in Tests with 604 scalps, Stuart Broad pointed out the missing factor in the Indian bowling.

He also spoke about what the Edgbaston surface would offer and called for Kuldeep Yadav to be included in the line-up, a player who can exploit England's weakness against wrist spin.

Stuart Broad backs Kuldeep Yadav to play 2nd Test vs England

While discussing the Leeds Test with Jos Buttler on their For The Love Of Cricket podcast, Stuart Broad felt India missed a trick in not playing Kuldeep to exploit England's weakness vs wrist spin.

The 38-year-old felt Yadav could have played over Shardul Thakur ideally.

"I think they got their team selection wrong. Kuldeep Yadav should have played instead of Shardul Thakur," he said.

The Englishman also pointed out the lack of control in the Indian bowling and discussed the possible turn that the Indian spinner could get from the foot-marks in the 2nd Test.

"They lacked a bit of control and wicket-taking. I think, if England has a weakness, it is wrist spin in a sense, and Edgbaston can spin off the foot holes," Broad continued.

"So, I would be tempted to play Kuldeep Yadav, but it's not panic station — you can't afford to rip up the plans after one loss where you controlled the Test match, really," Broad added.

Adding to that, Broad also wants India to rest Bumrah in the next game to manage the workload and hand over the baggy blue cap to Arshdeep Singh, who would provide a different dimension to the attack.
