Rishabh Pant was forced off the ground on Day 1 of the fourth Test after being hit on the foot while facing Chris Woakes' delivery.

The wicket-keeper batter was visibly in pain as he received immediate medical attention on the ground before being carried off the ground in a golf cart.

Pant was rushed to a hospital and after conducting tests, it was found that he had a fractured metatarsal, which effectively ruled him out of action for the remainder of the fourth Test and the series.

Just when it seemed that India would be without their star batter in the rest of the first innings and would be down 10 players in the second innings, Pant stunned the cricket world and the audience present at Old Trafford by coming out to bat, following Shardul Thakur's dismissal in the 102nd over.

Although Pant came out to bat, he was understandably in immense pain as he was spotted limping while coming out of the pavilion.
