R Ashwin has now expressed his remarks regarding the trade buzz. The legendary spinner also mentioned that he has sought clarity from his franchise, Chennai Super Kings.

R Ashwin loses his cool on playing just nine games for CSK in IPL 2025

Ashwin, the legendary Indian spinner, featured in just nine games, playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025. It was one of the few instances where Ashwin missed out on IPL games, being dropped from his side.

Ashwin has now reflected on his thoughts about his time with the yellow brigade last season. The spinner was seemingly upset after he got to play just nine games, missing out on five opportunities. He also remarked that he had asked the franchise for some clarity over his role for the side.

While talking on his YouTube channel Ash Ki Baat, Ashwin said, "I haven't had any communication as of now. I can ask for clarity, and I did that a long time back. What did I do? What is my role? How can I get better? I have already asked these questions."

Ashwin featured in nine games for CSK last season. He did not enjoy an excellent season as he picked up just 7 wickets and leaked runs at an economy of more than 9. Moreover, even with the bat, he scored just 33 runs at an average of 8.25.

"Last year, I played just nine games. In all of these years of playing IPL, it was the first year where I played just nine games. I have always played all the games, for whichever franchise, it was the first time. It was the first experience for me as well, so I asked for clarity from my side...I asked for clarity during the season itself," added Ashwin.

What's ahead for Ashwin in the IPL?

If reports are to be believed, Ashwin has asked CSK to release him ahead of the IPL 2026. The spinner seemingly was not happy with what transpired last year and probably wants to part ways with the Chennai franchise.

While there is no clarity over the matter, speculations have taken the social media abuzz. Reports also suggest that CSK is looking to trade in Sanju Samson. In such a case, CSK may look to trade the spinner in place of the RR skipper.
