It is that time of the year, again! The time when domestic T20 leagues all over the Indian subcontinent flood the cricketing calendars. After the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), it is now time for Pakistan to get on the act!
Pakistan Super League (PSL), the franchise T20 league of Pakistan began on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
The player draft for PSL Season 9 took place on December 13, 2023. And we saw fierce bidding wars for star players. The likes of Mohammad Amir, Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, attracted huge sums of money from their respective franchises.
Season 9 of the PSL promises to be another entertaining one, with six competent franchises battling it out for just one elusive title. The Lahore Qalandars would head into the season as defending champions, going for their third PSL title.
The schedule for the upcoming season has been released, and it is set to begin with defending champions Lahore Qalandars locking horns against the Islamabad United on February 17, 2024.

What is the format of PSL 2024?
A total of six franchises will participate in PSL season 9. A total of 34 matches would be played in the season. The group stage would constitute of 30 games, with four knockout matches to be played, including the final.
Each team plays the other five teams, twice each in a round-robin format in the group stage. The top four teams at the end of the group stage would qualify for the knockout rounds.
The knockouts would be played in a system, similar to that of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, followed by the the Final.
What time will the matches start in India?
On days involving a solitary match, the scheduled timing is 8:00 pm IST. On double-header matchdays, the scenario would be a bit different. The day matches of the double-header matchdays will begin at 2:30 pm IST, with the second match scheduled to start at 8:00 pm IST.
