Following the conclusion of the ODI career of 1983 runs in 61 games and 2275 T20I runs (the most for WI) in 106 T20Is, Pooran will next take part in the USA's Major League Cricket for MI New York.

However, contrary to the previous two seasons, the southpaw will be shouldering the added responsibility as the skipper of the franchise.

Nicholas Pooran to lead MI New York in MLC 2025

On the evening of June 10, the MI NY side made the official announcement calling Pooran as their new commander on social media.

"#NYC Fam, there’s a new commander in town - 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧!" wrote MI NY.

Pooran will take the captaincy duties off of Kieron Pollard who led the MI franchise to the title back in 2023 before getting knocked out in the Eliminator of 2024.
