World Championship of Legends (WCL) has made a lot of headlines over the course of its first two seasons for multiple reasons.
The competition introduced in 2024 has played a significant role in helping people relive their childhood as stars from the 2000s and 2010s returned to the field.
However, after the India Champions won the inaugural edition and advanced to the semi-finals of the second season, the league's owner, Harshit Tomar, revealed his wish to rope MS Dhoni in for the league.

Will MS Dhoni play WCL 2026?
Speaking about his admiration for MS Dhoni on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast, Harshit revealed that he is a die-hard MS Dhoni fan and how there is a lot to learn from the former India captain's personality.
After getting a yes from the superstars like Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh among others, the owner thinks he stands a chance to convince the wicketkeeper if he ever manages to have a conversation with him.
"MS Dhoni — I don't know if it would be possible, but I am a die-hard Dhoni fan. There is a lot to learn from him. He is one in a billion," said
"He won't be coming here for money, but I do what I do with all my heart and honesty — if I ever get a chance to sit down and convince him [to play the WCL], I might as well manage to do it," he added.
Interestingly, the 44-year-old is currently contracted with the Chennai Super Kings, and he might not be allowed to play in this overseas league unless he announces his retirement from the IPL.
He led CSK in the majority of IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, and there is no official word on whether he will play next season with the five-time IPL winners.
The wicketkeeper last played for India in the semi-final of the World Cup in 2019 against New Zealand before announcing his retirement from international cricket.
