As per Hindustan Times, the Indian speedster has to wait a little longer to return to international action after having his knee flared up during his rehab after last playing a competitive match in the World Cup final in 2023.

He also missed the five-match Test series against England at home followed by the IPL, after undergoing surgery on the ankle in February.

However, per latest reposts the pacer ended up with a flared-up knee, so the fans will have to wait a little longer to see the 34-year-old in action again.

As of now, there is no timeline given for his comeback and there is still a question mark regarding his participation in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will be played from late November till early January 2025.

Mohamed Shami refutes claims of delay in return from injury

Later on Wednesday, the player himself addressed the rumours as he claimed that the media reports were baseless on social.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) the speedster wrote, "Why these type of baseless rumors? I'm working hard and trying my level best to recover.  Neither the BCCI nor me have mentioned that I am out of the Border Gavaskar series. I request the public to stop paying attention to such news from unofficial sources. Please stop and don’t spread such fake fake fake & fake news, especially without my statement."
