Lucknow Super Giants opener and South African skipper Aiden Markram yet again fell for a low score, as his half-century drought in the shortest format extends. Markram is currently featuring for the Proteas side in their T20I series against Australia.

The South African opener, who has been one of the most consistent batters, has strangely failed to convert starts in the T20I format. He has now gone 31 innings without a half-century to his name in T20Is, which is a very rare and unwanted streak.

Markram's fifty drought continues, gets dismissed for a low score against Australia

Aiden Markram, the South African batter, was yet again dismissed for a low score in the third Australia vs South Africa T20I. Australia and RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood got the better of the Proteas skipper, as he was dismissed for 1 off 3 deliveries.

Markram has now ended the T20I leg of the Australia tour with just 31 runs in 3 innings. Hazlewood has dismissed the South African skipper twice this series.

Despite his impressive talent and exceptional batting capabilities, Markram has surprisingly not scored a T20I half-century in the past three years. His last T20I half-century came against India during the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Aiden Markram's struggles in the T20I format

The South African skipper's T20I numbers do not do justice to the quality of player that he is. Ever since his T20I debut, back in 2019, Markram has featured in 59 games, scoring at an average of less than 30.

The inability of Markram to convert his scores could well prove to be a big concern for the South African side. The batter has been crucial to the side's success, and with a T20 World Cup coming next year, the side would definitely want one of their best batter to be amongst the runs.
