India headed into the fifth and final Test without their ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as he was advised to take rest by the BCCI's medical team to manage his workload.
Ahead of the series, the team management had mentioned that Bumrah is likely to feature in three out of the five Test matches. After appearing in the fourth match of the series at Manchester, which was the bowler's third appearance, the 31-year-old was rested for the series-deciding game.
Indian fans were anxious to see if the Indian pace attack can deliver when it matters the most in the absence of their main fast bowler, but Mohammed Siraj showed that he is no longer a second-fiddle to Bumrah, but is a main character in the Indian team's pace attack.

Siraj went on to pick nine wickets in the match, including a fifer in the second innings that helped India register a historic six-run win over England and draw level in the series.
As the fast bowler from Hyderabad turned hero for India, wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel recreated Siraj's iconic quote from the T20 World Cup when he hailed Bumrah for his contribution to Indian cricket.
After India's win over South Africa in the T20 World Cup final in Barbados last year, in a post-match interview, Siraj had said in his broken English: "I only believe in Jassi bhai, because he is a gamechanger."

Siraj hailed Bumrah's match-winning ability as a bowler, while highlighting the 31-year-old's immense contribution to the success of Indian cricket.
Similarly, after Siraj single-handedly guided India to a win over England at the Oval in the fifth Test, Jurel came in front of the camera, with the pacer by his side and said: "I only believe, Miyan Bhai."
