Ahead of the all-important 2nd Test at Edgbaston, India have a crisis on their hands as their star fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is set to miss the match in Birmingham.
This comes as a major blow for the Indian team, as they look to level the series on a rather unfavourable venue -- where they haven't won a Test match in 58 years.

After losing the first Test at Headingly, India will now have to do without the services of Bumrah in the 2nd Test at Edgbaston. Bumrah bowled a total of 44 overs in the last match, as doubts were cast over the bowler's availability in the second Test, which is slated to start on July 2.
Although he picked up 5 wickets in the first innings, Bumrah went wicketless in the second, which allowed the English openers -- Zack Crawley and Ben Duckett -- to lay a solid foundation for the 371-run chase.
The pacer didn't get much help from his counterparts, not only in the bowling department but also in fielding as India dropped as many as seven catches throughout the game, four of which came off Bumrah's bowling.

Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of IND vs ENG 2nd Test at Edgbaston
One of India's mainstays in the bowling lineup, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, due to workload management, according to the Indian Express.
The pacer could return for the 3rd Test at Lord's, which is scheduled to start on July 10. Earlier, former cricketer Dinesh Karthik also opined on the fact that the pacer should sit out the second Test, as the pitch at Edgbaston doesn't have much for the bowlers.

In the absence of Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj is expected to take up the responsibility to lead India's bowling attack. Arshdeep Singh could be handed his Test debut in Birmingham, owing to Bumrah's absence from the match.
The Indian team management wants to be very careful with Bumrah's situation, as they don't want a repeat of the incident on the final day of the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024/25, where the pacer had to leave the field midway through the game due to discomfort in his back.
India struggled to take wickets despite having Bumrah on the final day of the first Test at Headingly. It will be interesting to see how India fares without their star man on a rather flat track in Birmingham.
